His story

Sam Cload

Hailing from the maritime city of Plymouth and after being persuaded that life at sea would be good for him, Sam joined the Royal Navy. But after an enjoyable time, where he managed to avoid going to sea, Sam embarked on his true passion for helping others. Roles in teaching and coaching followed, before a career altering experience happened whilst visiting a prison. It was while working in prison and witnessing the desperation of excluded people to try and change that Sam made the conscious decision to try and help them make change.

Initially this led Sam to the Saracens Foundation, where he took on the role of running a rugby based intervention in prisons local to Saracens. It was during this role that Sam really started to understand people in prison and how they had ended up there. This led Sam to launch new projects working with young people vulnerable to committing crime and now to the 100 & First Foundation, where Sam is fully committed to using the power of incredible real life experiences to drive social change for excluded groups, giving everyone the chance to live there best life.

Sam lives with his young family in Dorset and loves nothing more than living by the sea.
